Students from Mills University Studies AVID class visited College Station Elementary Monday for their third "AVID buddies" session. This week's topic focused on team building as the groups worked together to solve a silent maze. Afterwards, the students read an article and worked to mark the text together.

The school puts on annual productions with students taking on roles such as set design, costume design, acting, directing, lighting and audio. This is National School Bus Safety Week. The PCSSD Transportation Department reminds drivers to be on extra alert when near a bus. The flashing lights serve to get a driver's attention to slow if yellow or stop if red. #pcssdproud #serveall

September was Attendance Awareness Month and we challenged all students to be a H.E.R.O. Students were tasked to be Here...Everyday...Ready...On time and we had some great results! MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH had 3/4 weeks with 95% or higher attendance, with 1 week at 94%.
During the school year, MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH has the opportunity for TWO students to represent our school and student body at the monthly Board of Education meetings. Last night, senior Jaiya Arrington represented our school at the October meeting. We're so thankful for her hard work and willingness to represent the Comets. Way to go, Jaiya! Our next rep will be in February.

Students from MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH attended a college and career fair today at UA-Little Rock. PCSSD hosted the event for all juniors and senior high school students. It was a great opportunity to explore college and career options within the state as well as surrounding states.
Mills University Studies High is hard at work for our students! After school, faculty collaborated to identify best practices when it comes to teaching focused note-taking strategies. These strategies will improve student engagement and academic achievement.
