DELAYED START ❄ As we continue to monitor weather conditions, predictions indicate a high chance of early Tuesday morning temperatures below freezing, which increases the chances of icy roads and bridges. The safety of our students, teachers, and staff is always the first priority, so PCSSD will have a delayed start on Tuesday, December 2, for schools and district offices. Buses will run two hours later than their normal scheduled time. Tardies will not be counted for the day.

Building Relational Capacity - Making Connections and Friends
7th Grade AVID scholars from Mills Middle and Robinson Middle Schools enjoyed a day of making connections and friends. Scholars enjoyed a day of relational capacity and team building games at Lake Willastein where they walked the scenic walking trails, visited the veterans memorial as well the historic WWII Bunkers.

Building relational capacity supports academic success, improves student well being, and helps adolescents develop social and emotional skills and we here at Comet Nation are all about meeting the personalized academic and social needs of our scholars and preparing them for success.

💰 Financial Awareness at MMS! 💰

Today, Ms. McBride and Ms. Gordon partnered with US Bank to bring an amazing financial awareness experience to our scholars!

Mr. Marcus Morgan led an interactive session covering real-world banking topics—deposits, debit cards, saving, spending, and more. Scholars even competed in a fun round of Banking Jeopardy, earning gift bags and prizes along the way!

A huge thank you to Mr. Marcus Morgan and US Bank for volunteering your time, sharing your expertise, and pouring into our MMS scholars. Experiences like these help prepare them for a bright financial future!

👕 AVID Wednesday Spotlight: College Campus Visits! 🎓

This week, we are recognizing AVID scholars who are stepping beyond the classroom and onto real university campuses — experiencing college life firsthand.

These visits give our students a glimpse of what their futures can look like. They can learn about majors, scholarships, and campus traditions, and leave inspired to keep working toward their goals.

Don’t forget to show your support for college and career readiness across PCSSD by wearing an AVID shirt and sharing your past or preparing for your future. #PCSSDproud #AVID #ServeAll

Our students are learning the power of reflection! During data conferences, scholars sat down one-on-one to review their progress, celebrate wins, and set goals for what’s next. They’re not just looking at numbers—they’re looking at their potential! 💪📈 #GoalGetters #DataConferences #EmpoweredLearners

“Music teachers don’t just create musicians — they build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for the art of sound.”

Mrs. Cojocaru, our Orchestra teacher, does an amazing job with her scholars. She inspires them to come in early to practice, as well as inspires them to give their best every time they are in Orchestra class!

We look forward to seeing our scholars perform!

👕 Tomorrow is AVID Wednesday! 📣
This week, we’re spotlighting Mrs. Stephanie DeWitt’s kindergarten class at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary. Students recently completed an AVID jigsaw activity on story elements. Each group became “experts” on characters, setting, beginning, middle, or end, and then taught their classmates what they learned.

“It’s been wonderful watching them collaborate, think critically, and deepen their understanding of how stories work! Way to go, scholars,” Mrs. DeWitt shared.

Don’t forget to wear your AVID shirts tomorrow, celebrate student success, and keep building those college and career ready skills!
