AVID students had a friendly competition as part of the Sylvan Hills Middle School food drive. Each class worked in groups to see who could make the tallest food tower. The school collected 10 large boxes for the food drive. This was a great experience for our students and they all enjoyed helping others.

November is National Diabetes Month. The CDC reports that more than one-third of U.S. adults have prediabetes which puts them on track to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is preventable through committing to a healthy lifestyle.

Students in Mrs. Carson's art classes and Mrs. Morris's keyboarding classes collaborated to make holiday cards for military. It's part of the Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge through ADE/DESE. The program aims to provide holiday cards for as many active duty military service members as possible.

Sylvan Hills Middle will recognize our honor roll students on Thursday with a special honors assembly. This assembly is for students who received all As or A/Bs on their first quarter report cards. There will be 3 assembly times - one for each grade level (see picture). Parents are welcome, masks and temperature checks are required.
AVID students from SYLVAN HILLS MIDDLE and students from SYLVAN HILLS ELEMENTARY are partnering up every 2 weeks to work together on different projects. Lots of friendships are being formed between these kids. Just call them the AVID AVENGERS!
