Last week, the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site visited OAK GROVE ELEMENTARY to teach 4th grade students about The Little Rock 9. Students also received park ranger gear to take home. We appreciate this partnership to teach history. #pcssdproud #serveall

ROBINSON MIDDLE art students are starting 2025 on a reflective note. Students explored questions like 'Who are you?' & 'What went well last year?' Through this process, they created symbols they will use to create New Year, New Me - Dream Jars! #pcssdproud #serveall

It's School Board hero Heather Smith's turn for a super shoutout! Her superpower is an innate ability to read a room & understand people. While she may need 2 pairs of glasses to see clearly, her instinct to truly hear others doesn’t rely on listening alone. #pcssdproud #serveall

OAKBROOKE and CRYSTAL HILL 3rd graders had a visit from Apple Seeds, a community garden program. The students were able to grow their culinary skills, learn real world math & stretch their taste buds as they sampled delicious and nutritious fresh produce. #pcssdproud #serveall

People say that you become like the people you spend the most time with. Well, in this case, several staff members at CHENAL ELEMENTARY have worked together so long they are starting to dress alike! Great minds think alike! #pcssdproud #serveall

MILLS MIDDLE AVID 7th Grade Scholars volunteered at the Arkansas Foodbank before break. They sorted and bagged nearly 400 five pound bags of sweet potatoes!! They also learned about the work of the Foodbank and how they can help in serving hungry Arkansans. #pcssdproud #serveall

Our transportation crews have been out scouting roads and clearing school parking lots throughout the day. In coordination with neighboring districts, we believe the roads will be safe to drive nearly all routes tomorrow. Therefore, PCSSD schools and district offices will be open tomorrow - Tuesday, January 14.

Craig O'Neill's "Reading Road Trip" is stopping at a few PCSSD schools. Last week, 2nd graders at CHENAL ELEMENTARY had fun with Craig and his antics as he turned the reading into a full skit! Special thanks to Baldwin & Shell for sponsoring these visits. #pcssdproud #serveall

These candles by SYLVAN HILLS HIGH craft & pottery students are 🔥. This 2-month project included making pots, adding underglaze & finishing with "sgraffito" carving. The longest part was firing & refiring each pot. Students then added the wick, wax & scent. #pcssdproud #serveall

PCCSD leadership will meet this afternoon to discuss the weather impact on roads. No decision will be made about school tomorrow until after that meeting. Thanks for understanding as we evaluate the safest options for families and staff.

5th grade students at ROBINSON ELEMENTARY spent their holiday party putting together care baskets to bring cheer to residents in a local nursing home. Love how these students are already learning to give back to their community. #pcssdproud #serveall

Based on input from our transportation crews as well as neighboring districts, PCSSD will be closed on Monday, January 13. This decision was made in order to ensure the safety of our bus drivers and parents driving students to school. There are many roads that still are not clear and some areas may refreeze overnight. District offices will be open for those who can safely report to work. This includes auxiliary offices as well. School staff who are 244-day employees are expected to report to work as well.
