Student Art

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The holiday season is shining a little brighter thanks to the creativity of Pulaski County Special School District students. Five PCSSD ornaments were selected for the Arkansas Celebrates America250 State Ornament Project and are now part of the official display at the Arkansas State Capitol.

The collection is showcased in the Old Supreme Court Room and will remain open to the public through mid‑January. Visitors are invited to stop by and see the artistry of students from across Arkansas, including PCSSD honorees:

  • Alaya – Landmark Elementary 5th Grade

  • Julia – Landmark Elementary 3rd Grade

  • Amelia – Joe T. Robinson Middle 8th Grade

  • Jeremy – Sylvan Hills High School 12 Grade

  • Emele – Sylvan Hills High School 12th Grade

In addition to the physical display, every submitted ornament is also featured in a digital gallery at america250.ade.arkansas.gov, making it easy for families to explore the full collection online.

The inaugural honoree is Cheron Atkins‑Butcher, a fifth‑grade teacher at Sherwood Elementary, whose portrait and story are displayed at the entrance to the governor’s office.

“These Capitol exhibits highlight the talent and dedication of PCSSD students and educators — a true celebration of creativity and service this holiday season,” said Jeff Senn, PCSSD superintendent.
