PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- PCSSD performing ensembles received overall Superior or Excellent in recent spring assessments. In fact, most ensembles received Superior Ratings from every judge on the stage and in the sight-reading room. Sight-reading means the ensemble members and the director receive a piece of music they have never seen before and have a set amount of time to receive instruction (about 7 minutes) and then perform it.
The rating is based as much on how the director and students prepare to perform the piece as it is on the performance. Choirs, Bands, and Orchestras are rated 1 - 5 according to the following scale:
1 - Superior
2 - Excellent
3 - Good
4 - Fair
5 - Poor
March 7 and 8: ArkCDA Region 2 Choir Performance Assessments hosted at Sylvan Hills High School. Here are the results for the PCSSD Choirs -
Sylvan Hills High School - 6 choirs competed, 3 received Superior Ratings (1), 2 received Excellent Ratings, Recommended for State competition (2R), 1 received Excellent Ratings (2)
Sylvan Hills Jr. High - 3 choirs competed, 2 received Superior Ratings (1), 1 received Excellent Ratings (2)
Maumelle High School - Received Superior Ratings
Maumelle Middle School - Received Excellent Ratings
Robinson High School - 3 choirs competed, All 3 choirs received Superior Ratings (1)
Robinson Middle School - 3 choirs competed, Varsity Treble Senators received Superior Ratings (1), the other 2 choirs received Excellent Ratings (2)
