PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Two Pulaski County Special School District art teachers are representing the District on the Educators Advisory Board at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. Candace Barns (Sylvan Hills Elementary) and Kelly Emerson (Landmark Elementary) join 18 other educators on the inaugural board.
Ms. Barns says she is looking forward to providing insight into the needs of art students and teachers.
“I want to help shape ways for all students to find their artform that they love, so they can build strong voices, help produce creative critical thinkers that can express themselves confidently.”
Ms. Emerson says she hopes to learn additional resources for deeper, more exciting projects.
“Over the years my students have had life changing, high quality art experiences through the AMFA. Visual art, plays, workshops at the museum, virtual and touring programs have been vital parts of our art educational experiences. To be a small part of its rebirth is thrilling, I am so excited to have the opportunity to give back.”
The 20-member board represents five cities and 16 educational institutions to offer insight on the Museum’s educational programming and communication strategies.
