K-2 students at Pine Forest have been learning coding basics during their library time with Mrs. Reaves. After reading the book "How to Code a Sandcastle" by Josh Funk, classes discussed what coding is and how coders use it to create video games, apps, and other programs that we use every day. The first unplugged activity, "Robot Dog", was done as a whole group using coding cards that told our "robot" what to do to complete the maze. The next activity had the students working collaboratively with the Code and Go Mouse robots. The students are really enjoying learning about computer coding!
