First day of school was a success for our teachers at Maumelle High! Many of them sported our new staff shirts with this year's theme "Our town. Our school. Our SWARM!" Let's go Hornet Nation!!

Word on the street is that our students and staff loved the new food in the cafeteria yesterday! We're excited to bring this new variety of fresh food options to each of our schools. And just a reminder - all meals are free for students this year! #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

‘Twas the night before school starts, when all through the building
The classrooms sat empty, waiting for children.
The teachers have been working, for weeks by now
To make sure students would enter with a “wow!”
Meanwhile, children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of a new year danced in their heads.
Teachers were putting finishing touches on plans
To bring an amazing year to their student’s hands.
The morning would bring new adventures no doubt
Another school year is beginning with a lot to be excited about.
Happy first day of school, and to all a goodnight!

Summer is a great time to be outdoors. One way to have some outside fun is to arrange a scavenger hunt. Give clues and have kids hunt for indoor and outdoor objects.

Thank you to those who came out to our meet and greet last night with our new principal, Jason Young. We're excited about the leadership he'll bring to Maumelle High. Welcome to the Hornet family!
If you have any questions for him leading up to the school year, feel free to email at jyoung@pcssd.org.

Kids often fall victim to the summer slide, but we want to offer some tips to prevent the slide. Take advantage of programs offered by local libraries and museums.
