REOPENING PLANNING PROCESS

Pulaski County Special School District worked with school officials as well as community stakeholders to plan for the 2020-2021 academic year. PCSSD conducted three parent surveys and one staff survey to gauge the comfort levels on returning to school and work in Fall 2020. The first parent survey and only staff survey took place in June. The next parent survey was in early July and the final report was at the end of the month. The following information includes a summary of those surveys as well as links to see more detailed survey results.

Parent survey I

A parent survey was sent to all PCSSD parents/guardians on June 3, 2020 via callout, text and email. Parents were encouraged to fill out the survey for all students in their household. This survey closed on Sunday, June 7 at 8:30 p.m. with 2,929 survey responses.

The survey gauged comfort levels of parents sending their child(ren) to school depending on grade level (elementary, middle and high). It also provided feedback on what impacted one's comfort based on factors like physical distancing, personal protective equipment, sanitizing methods and more. Details of survey responses broken down by survey questions as well as more detailed responses by feeder.

A follow up callout, text and email was sent on June 26, 2020 to remind parents/guardians to complete the survey by 5 p.m. This survey was conducted in response to results from Survey I and to better help with planning for the reopening process in Fall 2020.

There were 8,962 responses to this survey which focused primarily on which type  of educational approach parents would prefer for their child(ren) in Fall 2020. The options were Digital (100% online learning) or Blended (mixed onsite and online learning).

Final Report for School Year

PCSSD issued a final form to all parents to select their choice of instructional platform for each child in their home. The form was sent via email, callout and text on July 13, 2020 and closed on July 24, 2020. It was also shared on social media twice during that two week period. The district and schools reviewed the results and then created a second form to gather data from parents who had not answered previously. That form was open from July 27 - August 30, 2020.
