(Little Rock, Ark.) -- Several students from Pulaski County Special School District are participating in the Easterseals Arkansas’ “Set for Success” to summer pre-employment transition program. This program is a partnership between Easter Seals and PCSSD along with continued support from Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (ARS), Sodexo and Baptist Health Medical Center.
Pre-employment transition consists of five core areas: job-exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, counseling on opportunities for enrollment in postsecondary education, workplace readiness, and instruction in self-advocacy. Students receive instruction in skill areas designed to get students ready for participating in actual work environments that meet their interests, abilities, capabilities, and aptitudes.
The work-based learning experiences provide the opportunity to strengthen several soft skill areas. Some of the soft skill areas include communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem solving and critical thinking, and professionalism.
