Classified Personnel Policy Committee Minutes: October 15, 2014

The Classified Personnel Policy Committee met in the third floor conference room of the Central Office at 3 p.m. on October 15, 2014. In attendance were Bill Goff, Derek Scott, Julie Welfel, Becky Del Rio, Clint Walker, Charles Blake, John Sparks and Keith Cooper. Loria Bryant was not in attendance.

John Sparks, Chairperson, opened the meeting and turned it over to Secretary Becky Del Rio to prevent any appearance of conflict of interest since he was running for a position. He then seated himself with the observers of the ballot counting.

Brandon Phillips of Ricoh delivered the sealed envelopes with ballots at 3 p.m. to the third floor conference room to the Classified PPC members. Laura Montgomery and Laura Clark attended as observers. Tabitha Pierce conducted the counting of the ballots through PSI 976 capture program. All ballots with more than two votes were deleted. All blank ballots were deleted.

With 705 votes cast for the position of Transportation:

  • Emry Chesterfield received 322 votes.
  • Laura Clark received 224 votes.
  • John Sparks received 159 votes.

With 671 votes cast for the position of Maintenance:

  • Steve Bowels received 134 votes.
  • Claude Johnson received 325 votes.
  • Jerry Shirley received 212 votes.

Because a majority was not obtained in either election, a run-over election between the two persons with the highest votes will be held on October 21. Deborah Roush will be contacted by Clint Walker to announce the run-off elections through a call-out. Run-off ballots and procedure used for the first election will be repeated using the envelope distribution format developed by Loria Bryant.

Run-off candidates for Transportation will be Emry Chesterfield and Laura Clark. Run-off candidates for Maintenance will be Claude Johnson and Jerry Shirley.

Meeting was adjourned at 5 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Becky Del Rio, Secretary
