The Classified Personnel Policy Committee met in Conference Room B of the Central Office at 1 p.m. on February 11, 2014. In attendance were Keith Cooper, John Sparks, Julie Welfel, Bill Goff, Becky Del Rio, Loria Bryant, Clint Walker and Derek Scott. Charles Blake was absent.
John Sparks called the meeting to order and asked for concerns to be brought forth.
Loria brought to the table a list of concerns from employees, including the following two:
Q: What can be done about employees bullying in the work place?
A: Within the Classified PPC manual is the procedure to follow regarding bullying, titled: Personnel Responsibilities Governing Bullying (page 80).
Q: Is the dress code policy set by the district or by the school?
A: Within the Classified PPC manual is the procedure regarding the dress code, titled: Staff Dress Code, page 19.
The remainder of the questions will be addressed at the next meeting.
Clint Walker asked a question about the use of e-cigarettes at PCSSD. E-cigarettes are not mentioned in the PPC manual under the Tobacco Use section. This PPC recommends that e-cigarettes should not be used in the presence of students. Further discussion will be tabled until the next meeting.
Keith Cooper had a concern about the issue of bringing years experience to new position. Discussion included the consideration of the current PPC manual guidelines of the Compensation and Contracts on page 33.
Leave time concerns were brought up by John Sparks: Mid-day bus runs are affecting the leave time. Bill Goff will investigate the possibility of making this a contracted mid-day run and report back at the next meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 3:10 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 11th at 1 p.m. in Conference Room B of the Central Office.
