The Classified Personnel Policy Committee met on May 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Conference Room A of the Central Office. In attendance were John Sparks, Keith Cooper, Julie Welfel, Belinda Jackson, Derek Scott, Becky Del Rio, Bill Goff and Charles Blake. Clint Walker was unable to attend.
Minutes of the April 29, 2013 meeting were approved via email and have been posted on the website.
The Classified Personnel Policy Committee met to review the current proposed changes to the PPC manual.
Becky Del Rio moved that the positions of Home School Consultant and the Behavior Intervention Specialist be returned to range one of daily rate of pay schedule instead of the hourly rate of pay schedule. Charles Blake seconded the motion. The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 was reviewed and it was determined that these two job classifications do meet the exemption criteria noted on the Fact Sheet #17C of the FLSA. Motion carried. Bill Goff will make the change to the schedules.
Derek Scott moved that the position of Director of School Maintenance Services be moved from the range 12 to the range 13 of the daily rate of pay for the proposed salary schedules. Keith Cooper seconded the motion. After discussion and in order to meet the goal that no position’s pay rate for 2013-2014 would be less than its pay rate for 2012-13, the motion carried.
John Sparks led a discussion of the concerns of the classified personnel which were voiced during the Support Staff meeting on May 9 and 10 at the Central Office Board Room.
Keith Cooper moved that the suggested Classified Personnel Salary Schedules with the voted upon changes be added to the PPC manual, effective July 1, 2013. Charles Blake seconded the motion. Motion carried.
These proposed changes will be presented with the Board agenda May 14, 2013.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:40 p.m.
