A motion to accept the agenda with moving item 5 up to item IV was made by Loveida Ingram; seconded by Dr. Guess; Motion carried.
A motion to approve the March minutes with corrections noted was made by Dr. Warren; seconded by Loveida Ingram. Motion carried. Dr. Guess opposed the minutes citing that he is on the committee yet he did not agree with the composition of the Professional Development Committee.
Dr. Warren says she believes that there are other schools that do not have chrome books—not just Sherwood.
Chairperson Fitzgiven requested that Deb Roush speak to the committee about the circumstances that led to the Security Breach. Deb Roush accepted and presented to the Certified PPC. She stated the District found out that about the breach on March 18, 2016. Monica Bryant discovered that an employee to the district had “bcc” on e-mails that included spreadsheets with employees’ personal information and insurance information. A detective has been assigned to the situation. Employees that have contacted the district about any suspected breach to their personal information, the District has taken care of researching it for them. The District contacted the prosecutor’s office, ADE, took ad out in newspaper, emailed all employees, and posted it on the website. District has established a plan to keep this from happening in the future.
Chairperson Fitzgiven asked if Dr. Guess had any recommendation to share with the committee. He stated he hopes to have something soon.
How many schools in the district have security cameras in the individual classrooms? Dr. Warren and Dr. Guess stated they are unaware of any schools in the District with security cameras in the classroom other JHS. Jacksonville High School wrote a grant to have security cameras with audio to be placed in all classrooms and media center. It was paid for with SIG (School Improvement Grant) money-- federal grant money. The District is unaware of any security cameras in any other schools in the district and that the district has not paid for any security cameras to be placed in individual classrooms.
Chairperson Fitzgiven presented to the CAB last month language to establish the length of the teacher workday. The CAB made a motion to take it back to the committee to add language to address faculty meetings for administration. Chairperson Fitzgiven presented a draft to the committee regarding faculty meetings. After some discussion between the teachers on the committee and Dr. Warren, changes were made and a motion to accept the language as proposed policy was made by Renee George; seconded by Judy Stockrahm; Motion carried after a roll call vote:
Chairperson Fitzgiven presented a draft of proposed language for PD policy for 2016-2017 school year. Dr. Warren asked for time to read the proposed language. Chairperson would like to present to the CAB so we would have to meet again this week. Dr. Guess stated that he wasn’t sure if Fitzgiven could be placed on the agenda or not—he would speak to CAB Chair Lyndsey Gustafson and let her know. Dr. Guess then stated that it doesn’t matter what the Certified PPC recommends for PD, he is going to have Dr. Warren and some other people make his recommendation for a PD policy. Chairperson Fitzgiven then asked if there was a motion to accept the proposed PD language before them. A motion to accept was made by Judy Stockrahm; seconded by Loveida Ingram. Motion carried with roll call vote:
