Certified Personnel Policy Committee Minutes: January 12, 2016

Present: Chairperson Pam Fitzgiven, Judy Stockrahm, Loveida Ingram, Melissa Moore, Renee George, Dr. Janice Warren, Dr. Jerry Guess, Paul Brewer

Guest: Denise Palmer, Chief Financial Officer

I. Call to order: 4:50 p.m.   

II. Approval of Agenda:

Motion to move item V to item IV and accept the agenda was made by Dr. Warren; seconded by Paul Brewer. Motion carried.

III. Approval of Minutes:

Motion to accept minutes with any necessary changes was made by Dr. Guess; seconded by Loveida Ingram. Motion carried.

IV. Bonus Cost: Denise Palmer:

Denise Palmer shared a copy of a cost sheet for a $1200/$900/$500 for certified employees. Chairperson Fitzgiven asked what the 3rd quarter payment was from the State. Dr. Guess stated it was available on the ADE’s website. Legal fund according to Denise Palmer is $19 million and expenditures will end at $10.5 million. Dr. Guess stated he is not going to support a proposal of any kind of bonus for certified employees citing the loss of Desegregation money and the Jacksonville detachment.

V. 2016-2017 PCSSD Calendar:

Two recommendations were presented to the committee: one from Dr. Guess and one from Chairperson Fitzgiven. After much discussion over AEA days and professional development days the Committee compromised and agreed on one calendar to be presented to the new Community Advisory Board.

VI. Information request:

Paul Brewer presented Chairperson Fitzgiven with the information requested from December’s meeting.
