2019-2020 PFE FALL FUNDRAISER 

The PFE Popcorn Fundraiser will KickOff on Thursday, October 10, 2019 and will conclude Monday, October 21, 2019. For every ten bags a students sells, they will earn one FREE bag of popcorn. Monies raised during the Fall Fundraiser will be used for PBIS rewards on the Percy Cart and incentives throughout the year, Sound Field System for the Cafeteria, leveled books for students/teachers to use during small groups, and play-ground items such as basketballs, jumpropes, etc. Our school goal is $5,000.00 in total sales. 

Thank You! Thank you to all volunteers who assisted in the PFE Grandparents’ Day Lunch and Book Fair. PFE Faculty, Staff, and students really appreciate you giving your time, efforts, and support to our students.

2019-2020 School Arkansas Department of Education Rating: 

The ADE has published 2018-2019 School Report Cards to include letter grades for schools overall performance. PFE has been assigned the letter grade B with a score of 73.86. Administration and staff members are proud of the B recognition. The letter grade is determined by Weighted achievement (70.31), Student Growth in Achievement (81.99), and points earned for School Quality Success (55.07) which includes student attendance. For students missing less than 9 days, the school receives 1 point. For students who miss between 10-17 days, the school receives .5 points.. For students who miss 18 days or more the school receives 0 points. There is no consideration if the absences are excused/ unexcused. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school daily!!! 

Stinger Store Donations: 

PFE is seeking donations for the Percy Cart and PFE Stinger Store as part of the Positive Behavior Intervention Support system. The Percy Cart is used to recognize and support positive behavior exhibited by students weekly classroom visits on Friday. The Stinger Store is scheduled once a nine weeks with larger items. We are looking for used or new donations to stock and sustain the store throughout the year. Items can be toys, games, stickers, books, posters, etc. If you have items that you are willing to donate, send to the PFE office. The first visit to the store is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2019.

FALL FESTIVAL!!! 

Fall Festival is Thursday, October 10th, 5:30-7:30 (Silent Auction Closes at 7:00)! Be on the lookout for more information about donations and volunteering as well as ticket sales! If you have a good or service that you’d like to donate for the silent auction or if you’d like to volunteer to help with the silent auction in any way, please email jenwalla@gmail.com. PFE Welcomes Susanne & Busker 

KARK 4 Anchor Susanne Brunner & Busker are visiting schools across Arkansas to read his story and to inspire kids to take the pledge to read 10 books in 10 weeks. Susanne will visit PFE's 1st and 2nd grade classes on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

Picture Day: Fall pictures have been scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2019. The photographs will be used for the 2019-2020 Year- book. Students are required to wear UNIFORMS for picture day.

Red Ribbon Activities 

Wednesday, October 23rd: Red Ribbon Pep Rally. Everyone where a red shirt. 

Thursday, October 24th: "Follow your DREAMS live drug free. "Dress for success. Dress for your future career. (Teacher, Dentist, Construction, Lawyer, Fireman, Police Officer, Governor, and the list goes on.) 

Friday, October 25th: Turn your BACK on drugs! (Wear your school shirt backwards)

Archery News 

Mandatory Parent Meeting for 4th and 5th grade students interested in trying out for Archery will be held October 17th at 6:00 in the media center. Email traborn0500@pcssd.org with questions.

The flu season is upon us! The PFE Flu Clinic will be November 4th form 9-11 a.m. Watch for forms to come home soon. If you want your child to participate, please fill out both forms and return to the nurse’s office by November 1st.

Share a Book/PJ Day Thursday, October 3rd, is Share a Book/PJ Day. Students can bring their favorite book and wear their "school appropriate" pajamas. Families are invited to come and read with students. Please look for a note to sign up for a time to share a book with our students. If you miss the note, or have questions, contact our Literacy Coach, Karen Benson, at kbenson2107@pcssd.org. 

Testing News We have successfully completed our beginning of the year testing. Your kindergarten through second grade children completed the STAR tests, and your third grade through fifth grade children completed the NWEA Maps tests. This provides extremely helpful information to guide your children's academic growth. These tests will be given during the month of October to check for progress: K-2 District STAR Screening, 3-5 District Common Formative Assessments 

Accelerated Reading (AR) First through fifth graders have been given an AR goal. Please encourage your children to read with you in the evenings, and talk to them about what they have read to strengthen their comprehension. Those who meet their AR goals will be awarded at the Honors Assembly, and the highest class in each grade will hold our trophy.
