The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has announced Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School as one of its 2019 Youth Literacy Grant Recipients to fund the school’s “One Book, One School” proposal.
Mills High was selected to receive $4,000 in grant money to purchase “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas for a school-wide book study, which will incorporate both academic and social emotional learning. Students will read the book during advisory period and engage in writing activities and productive social justice discussions.
The grant awards funding to organizations and schools in need of literacy assistance.
