Rix and Hall Scholarships awarded
On Tuesday Rick and Nikki Rix presented two scholarships to graduating seniors from SYLVAN HILLS HIGH. The Alicia Rix Scholarship was awarded to Courtney Barrentine and the Taylore’ Hall Scholarship to Jordan Jones.

Established in 2003, students in the SYLVAN HILLS HIGH SCHOOL EAST program have attended nine national conferences. In those nine years, the program has been awarded a superior rating (the highest possible rating) many times. This year, however, not only did SHHS receive a superior, they were awarded a perfect score of 50/50!
On March 10, the SYLVAN HILLS HIGH SCHOOL Bears basketball team won the 5A state championship, which was held at The Summit Arena in Hot Springs! They defeated PCSSD rival MILLS U.S. HIGH SCHOOL Comets with a final score of 59-54. It was a close and exciting game for the Bears and Comets fans, as well as for basketball fans in general.
On Sunday, March 4, 2012, Sylvan Hills High School received a $10,000 grant from First Assembly in North Little Rock in celebration of the church’s 100th anniversary. The church awarded a total of $100,000 in grant money in recognition of its important birthday. According to Tracy Allen, the school’s principal, the school will use the award to purchase a classroom set of iPads with a docking cart. In addition to the award, Sylvan Hills High School will receive additional wireless access points in order to fully utilize the iPads on campus.
After playing a tough regular-season schedule and three wins each in the 5A State Boys Basketball Tournament, two Pulaski County Special School District schools will meet in the Championship game.
