Football concussions in young players

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — If you get hurt, some may say ‘shake it off.’ Yet, you just can’t shake off a concussion.

A blow to the head in sports like football is common, but so are concussions. The Centers for Disease Control says a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury when your brain actually moves quickly back and forth.

What went right, a message from Dr. Jerry Guess

First, to all PCSSD parents, students, teachers, and staff – welcome back! I’m never happier than when our buses are running, our schools are bustling with students, and we’re back in the swing of learning. This was the first week of school for students in the Pulaski County Special School District after a long summer of careful preparation. I know everything has not gone perfectly. A few buses have been late, we had some traffic issues, and some student schedules needed to be corrected. But overall, things have gone well. Very, very well!

PCSSD mourns former superintendent

Our condolences go out to the family of retired PCSSD Superintendent and Executive Director of the Arkansas School Boards Association J. K. Williams, who passed away Wednesday, July 18, at the age of 86.
