PCSSD names new directors

The Pulaski County Special School District has hired a director of elementary education and a director of secondary education to oversee principals and direct the implementation of Common Core standards, the new state curriculum standards being implemented in kindergarten through eighth-grade next school year. Both positions will report to Dr. Linda Remele, the District’s deputy superintendent and will assume their positions July 1, 2012.

Reminder: Tomorrow is not a staff development day as indicated on early versions of the 2011 – 2012 school calendar. All staff and students should report to school as usual.

College Station Elementary has a friend in 3M

COLLEGE STATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has a true friend in neighboring 3M Little Rock, one the world’s leading suppliers of roofing granules to asphalt shingle manufacturers. The company recently presented the school with $10,000 for use by teachers in the classroom. Thank you, 3M! Pictured here is the check presentation at the school today.

Brave Bates Elementary student rewarded for speaking up

When a second-grade student at Bates Elementary School brought a gun to school last week another brave young man named Thomas stepped in. As soon as he heard about the gun, he did the right thing and told an adult. The gun was immediately located and secured and the entire situation was handled safely and without incident.

Personnel Policy Committees propose changes

On Friday, April 20, 2012 the Classified PPC voted to propose the attached Personnel Policies and propose no changes to Classified Salary Schedules for the 2012-2013 school year
