Robinson High teacher keeps woodworking alive

When school districts look at cutting programs, electives like woodshop classes are often on the chopping block. At Joe T. Robinson High School, Mr. Howell Jackson is one of two teachers left in the Pulaski County Special School District. Jackson’s passion for the craft is so big he built his students and the school a sawmill.

Robinson High staff loses weight, improves health with Biggest Loser competition

ROBINSON HIGH SCHOOL “Biggest Loser” contest results are in and the winner is Clyde Kelly, in-school suspension intercessor. Mr. Kelly lost 39.8 pounds and dropped his body weight percentage by 12.8%!

PCSSD well represented at art competition

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012, art students from JACKSONVILLE HIGH, ROBINSON HIGH and MAUMELLE HIGH SCHOOL brought home awards from the 2012 AYAA (Arkansas Young Artist Association) Spring Competition and Convention, held at the State House Convention Center. Students’ works were entered into categories according to media and style, and were judged by college art teachers as well as professional artists. Awards were given in 66 areas, most containing well over 100 works of art in each group. Over 1,000 member students of the AYAA were in attendance from schools from all over the state.

Robinson High’s Deanna Pollard a finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program

ROBINSON HIGH SCHOOL senior Deanna Pollard has been named a finalist in the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship Program, an academic competition for outstanding Black American high school students from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Deanna is one of 1,300 finalists who will compete for scholarships to be announced in April. Congratulations, Deanna!

Robinson High to host College Goal Sunday event for seniors

Arkansas College Goal Sunday is this Sunday, February 19, 2012. College Goal Sunday is a one-day, statewide event created to help students and families learn more about higher education and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Arkansas Universal Scholarship Application (YOUniversal).
