Local business helps Harris Elementary students surprise mom this Mother’s Day

They hang on your refrigerator; they fill up your scrap books and set around in your home. We’re talking about the gifts that mean so much to mothers and grandmothers. Earlier this year Coldwell Bankers began collecting jewelry from the Maumelle community to help students from one North Little Rock elementary school find presents for their moms.

Pre-K kids more likely to earn degrees

Robinson High teacher keeps woodworking alive

When school districts look at cutting programs, electives like woodshop classes are often on the chopping block. At Joe T. Robinson High School, Mr. Howell Jackson is one of two teachers left in the Pulaski County Special School District. Jackson’s passion for the craft is so big he built his students and the school a sawmill.

Brave Bates Elementary student rewarded for speaking up

When a second-grade student at Bates Elementary School brought a gun to school last week another brave young man named Thomas stepped in. As soon as he heard about the gun, he did the right thing and told an adult. The gun was immediately located and secured and the entire situation was handled safely and without incident.
