Two PCSSD teachers achieve teaching's highest standard

Pulaski County Special School District is proud to announce Rachel Blackwell, eighth-grade math teacher at Maumelle Middle School, and Laura Pierce, kindergarten teacher at Crystal Hill Elementary Magnet School, have earned the highest credential available to American educators by recently becoming a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. National Board President and CEO, Dr. Ron Thorpe praised Rachel and Laura’s accomplishment, noting, “National Board Certification represents the pinnacle of professional accomplishment in teaching.”

Elementary students do their part to make the holidays bright for veterans

Students at CRYSTAL HILL ELEMENTARY and PINE FOREST ELEMENTARY took time out today to make holiday cards for veterans, including those at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Fighting child hunger

You know that gnawing feeling when you’re hungry or miss a meal imagine that every day as a five year old in kindergarten or a teenager in high school. This is reality for one in four children in Arkansas.

There are signs of child hunger.

“They’ll take food from other students’ trays, ask for their lunches, they might hide or store away food, ” says Stacy Donaghy , Crystal Hill Elementary Principal.
