Jacksonville High senior takes gold at SkillsUSA

We would like to congratulate Kelly Marie Jenkins, a senior and fourth-year Photography student at Jacksonville High School on being the Arkansas SkillsUSA Gold Medal recipient! Kelly won the award on April 10, 2013 and is now eligible to compete in the national SkillsUSA Conference in Kansas City Missouri this June.

Jacksonville High artists well represented at AYAA State Art Contest

Sixteen Jacksonville High Art students won awards at the 2013 Arkansas Young Artists Association (AYAA) State Art Contest held Monday at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. In total these students won 19 awards in various categories competing against students from throughout the state. Those winning awards were:

Mills High slam poet impresses at Thea Foundation

The Thea Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of its 2013 Poetry Slam Scholarship Competition (for high school seniors), which took place at the Thea Center on Saturday, February 23. Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School student Nickolas Brooks was one of only five winners in the competition, receiving one of the foundation’s Honorable Mentions.

Landmark Elementary students work goes on display

Landmark Elementary invites you to attend “Lines and Landscapes,” an art exhibit featuring artwork created by Landmark students at the Thea Foundation (401 Main Street, Suite 100, North Little Rock, AR 72114). Come out on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to support our students and enjoy some top notch art.
