JLF: Reporting Child Abuse / Child Protection

The Board directs full compliance by the District with the child abuse and neglect reporting laws.

Any school official or employee who knows or has reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been subjected to abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect, or observes the child being subjected to conditions or circumstances which would reasonably result in abuse or neglect will immediately be responsible for making a report to the Arkansas State Police, Crimes Against Children Division, Child Abuse Hotline.

It will not be the responsibility of the school official or district personnel who initiated the report to prove that the child has been neglected or abused.

Any person who, in good faith, participates in making a child abuse or neglect report or in any resulting proceeding will be immune from civil or criminal liability.

The Superintendent or his designee will establish procedures necessary to accomplish the intent of the policy and of the law.
