Maumelle resource officers teach students to make smart choices

Maumelle Middle school sixth grade students pose with their Student Resource Officers and principal at their pizza party

Each year, the Maumelle Police Department Student Resource officers teach a Smart Choice Class to all sixth-grade students. The course covers topics including Arkansas law, bullying, drugs and gangs. It is targeted to middle school students who are at a point in their lives when they are beginning to be independent in their decision making, and this class helps point them in the right direction. At the end of the course, the class with the highest average grade on the end-of-year exam is celebrated with a pizza party. Here are the 2016-2017 Smart Choices Class sixth-grade winners!

The Pulaski County Special School District is grateful to the hard work and dedication of the Maumelle Police Department school resource officers.
