Are you the PCSSD parent of three- or four-year-old children and interested in preparing them for school while developing their literacy and math skills? Your child will benefit from a free, home-based, family-focused program that provides educational enrichment. Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is the answer! Parents are their child's first teacher. Research shows that HIPPY plays a critical role in children's education.
HIPPY's primary goal is to increase children's success in school. The HIPPY curriculum, designed for preschool children who are already in a center-based program or at home, contains 30 weekly activity packets, nine storybooks and a set of 20 manipulative shapes for each year. In addition to these basic materials, supplies such as scissors and crayons are provided for each participating family. The program uses trained coordinators and community-based home visitors to teach families throughout their participation in the program.
For more information about qualification or to enroll your child now for the HIPPY Program, contact PCSSD HIPPY Coordinator Carletta Wilson at 501-982-2013, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also find more information here.
