Supplemental Services (Free Tutoring)

Any (Title I) elementary school identified for improvement (Year 2 +) is required to offer tutoring to eligible students from low-income families. These services are available to students after the regular school day with educational providers who have been approved by the State Board of Education. If the number of eligible students who apply for SES (free tutoring) exceeds the financial resources available, the lowest achieving students from low income families will receive first priority.

Parents can choose a free tutoring program that best meets the child’s needs from a list of approved programs. These programs, which have been approved by Arkansas Department of Education, will provide the child with tutoring that is coordinated with what is being taught in school and may help improve the child’s academic skills.

Each year, the district has two enrollment periods in which the child can be enrolled. The first enrollment is in September, with the second enrollment running through November and December. Please call Chanda Bailey at 501.234.2060 if you have any questions about this program and process

The following schools are eligible for free tutoring during the 2011-2012 school year: Bates Elementary, Clinton Elementary, College Station Elementary, Harris Elementary, Oakbrooke Elementary, Scott Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, and Taylor Elementary.
