PCSSD sets schedule for credit recovery summer school

Required Registration Already Underway

The Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) will hold two summer school sessions for high school and middle school students, according to Deborah Roush, the district’s spokesperson.

Summer school, which enables students who have failed a course to regain credit, will begin May 31, 2012. Middle school classes will include sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade math and English and English I, English II, English III, English IV, algebra I and geometry at the high school level, she said.

Registration for both sessions began May 1 and will continue until May 18 for the first session and until June 8 for the second session. The cost is $80 per session for resident students (attending a PCSSD school) and $300 per session for non-resident students (not attending a PCSSD school). Roush said there will be six privately funded scholarships awarded at each summer school site for each session. To qualify for a scholarship, a student must be eligible for free or reduced lunch.

Classes will be offered at both Fuller Middle School, 808 East Dixon Road, Little Rock, Ark., and Jacksonville High School, 2400 Linda Lane, Jacksonville, Ark. Students may choose which location they prefer to attend.
