The Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD), with approval from
the Arkansas Department of Education, is accepting students from the areas
ravaged by Hurricane Katrina who have come to Arkansas seeking shelter.
Students living in temporary living arrangements due to loss of housing
will most likely qualify as "homeless" students and may enroll in the
school district where they are physically present without proof of residence.
Parents temporarily housed within PCSSD borders can go to the school nearest
their temporary residence to enroll their school-age children. For assistance in identifying the closest school to
your location, call (501) 490-6215, (501) 490-6307 and (501) 490-6219 weekdays
from 8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
Dislocated students who are 4 years old by September 15 may qualify to
attend pre-kindergarten in some PCSSD schools.
For assistance please call
(501) 490-6284, weekdays from 8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
Parents should use the following guidelines for enrolling
students who are displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
1.
If they are staying with friends or relatives they
must come with parents to enroll and fill out the verification form and bring
their proof of residence.
2.
It is not required that students have birth
certificate, shot record or social security numbers, but if you have these
records bring them with you.
PCSSD is sensitive to your loss
and will work to accommodate your child’s needs.
