Question:
What magnet school is my child eligible to attend?
Answer:
If you live anywhere in the Pulaski County Special School
District, you may apply for assignment to the following
Stipulation Magnet Schools: Booker Arts Elementary Magnet,
Carver Basic Skills/Math-Science Elementary Magnet, Gibbs
International Studies/Foreign Languages Elementary Magnet,
Williams Traditional Elementary Magnet, Mann Arts and
Science Middle Magnet, and Parkview Arts and Science High
Magnet.
Question:
What do I need to bring with me when I come to fill out
the application?
Answer: You will need to provide proof of your address
(i.e. utility bill, lease agreement).
Question: How will I be notified of acceptance into the
Stipulation Magnet Schools?
Answer: All students will be notified by letter of
acceptance in the magnet schools.
Question: Who do I contact if I have
additional information on Stipulation Magnet Schools?
Answer: For additional information contact Michelle
Oliver at 490-6219.
Question: What is an M-to-M transfer?
Answer: An M-to-M transfer is a Majority-to-Minority
transfer. This means that a student may apply for a
transfer from a district and school where their race is
the Majority TO a district and school where their race
is in the Minority.
Question: What does this mean?
Answer: Basically, this means that black students in the
Little Rock School District and North Little Rock School
District are eligible to apply for transfer to the
Pulaski County Special School District and non-black
students in the Pulaski County Special School District
are eligible to transfer to schools in the Little Rock
School District and North Little Rock School District.
Question: Who is Eligible?
Answer: Students who are in good standing with the
sending district are eligible for M-to-M transfer.
Question: When should I apply?
Answer: Students who submit applications during
pre-registration have the best chance of being placed at
the school of their choice. Pre-registration for the
2007-2008 school year begins January 29, 2007.
Question:
How do I
apply?
Answer: You may complete and return your M-to-M
application form to your resident district.
Question: Who do I contact for additional information on
M-to-M transfers?

Question: Can your office fax a Magnet or M-to-M
application form?
Answer: The forms are duplicate copies and are not
available through FAX or e-mail.
Question: What is Cyber
Academy?
Answer: Cyber Academy is an
online alternative to traditional classes.
Question: Who is eligible to
attend Cyber Academy?
Answer: Any student grades
7-12 is eligible to attend but must complete enrollment
process through the school counselor.
Question: What age can I
pursue a GED in school?
Answer: 16 and 17 years old.
Question: How do I start the
process?
Answer: See the school

Question: What is the T.A.B.E.
test?
Answer: This is a screening
tool to enrollment into Adult Ed classes. T.A.B.E. is the
Test Adult Basic Education.
Question: Where can I take
the T.A.B.E. test?
Answer: Visit with your
student school counselor.
Question: If I am enrolled
but not attending, can I still take the T.A.B.E. test?
Answer: No, you must be in
regular attendance.
Question: Where do Pulaski
County Special School District students take the T.A.B.E.
test?
Answer: Adult Ed located in
Rose City – 4300 Haywood, North Little Rock, phone:
945-6055.
Question: If I am home
schooling can I take the GED test?
Answer: Yes, you will go to
Adult Ed – Only for the testing but remain on home
school studies until you complete your GED.
Question: Can I enroll
directly in Alpha Academy from my home school?
Answer: Yes, but meet with
your Principal.
Question: If I am assigned to
Alpha by the Hearing Officer, how long do I have to stay?
Answer: For the time
assigned, either one semester or remainder of the school
year.
Question: What is Felder
Alternative Learning
Academy?
Answer: Juvenile Justice
School located at 8300 Geyer Springs Rd. Phone:
447-9060. Alternative placement, structured environment
for students with behavioral problems.
Question: Can my child
carry his asthma inhaler with him to class?
Answer: Yes, the asthma
inhaler is the only medication that can be kept with the
student. All other medications must be kept in the
office. The parent will still need to sign the
Medication Administration Release Form in the office.
Question: Is there a nurse
at my child’s school everyday?
Answer: No, however,
there is an assigned nurse for each school. Each school
nurse covers 2-3 schools during the school week. She is
available to her assigned schools for any questions or
emergencies that may arise.
Question: What
immunizations does my child need to be in public school?
Answer: The requirements
for entry into school are at least 3 doses (4 required
for Kindergarten only) of DTP, DT or TD (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis);
At least 3 doses of polio vaccine; 2 doses of Rubeola
(measles) vaccine, 1 dose of Rubella (German measles)
vaccine and 1 dose of Mumps vaccine (these three are
commonly given as the MMR); 3 doses of Hepatitis B
vaccine and 1 dose of Varicella (chicken Pox) vaccine
(Note if >12 yrs old 2 doses of Varicella are required)
or history of Chicken Pox disease.
Question: How do I apply to Home School my child?
Answer: Officially withdraw student from their current
school. After withdrawing the student, go to Pulaski
County Special School District Administrative Building
(Division of Equity and Pupil Services) and complete the
Notice of Intent to Home School
application.
Question: Do I have to re-apply to Home School each year?
Answer: Notice of Intent to Home School applications
must be completed each year, at the beginning of
the school year, no later than August 15, 2006 (for 1st
semester) and December 15, 2006 (for 2nd
semester).
Question: The District office is too far from my home,
what can I do?
Answer: Notice of Intent to Home School applications can
be obtained at the PCSSD Administrative Offices
(Division of Equity and Pupil Services) or on the
Arkansas Department of Education website,
www.arkansased.org. However, the original document
must be completed and returned to the PCSSD Division of
Equity and Pupil Services.
Question: Who can I contact for questions regarding Home
Schooling?
Answer: State law regulates home schooling in Arkansas.
The Arkansas Department of Education can be contacted
for questions regarding monitoring and required testing
at (501) 682-1874.
Question: If I have additional questions, who do I

Answer: For questions regarding applying to Home School
a student please call the PCSSD Division of Equity and
