Re:                  Transition Camp Summer Opportunity

 

PCSSD is again offering Transition Camp at each of the middle schools for incoming non proficient 6th graders and incoming non proficient 9th graders at each high school.  Teachers or administrators who have an understanding of effective instructional strategies, a strong curricular focus, and are not working on a 12 month contract are encouraged to apply for an instructional coach position for Transition Camp.  Transition Camps will be held at each of the middle and high school campuses for a total of 13 camps. A coach will be hired for each of the campuses.  Class size will be limited to approximately 15 students to better focus on the individual needs of students.

 

The Transition Camp Coach will be expected to perform the following:

 

1.     Assist in developing and/or refining the organization and structure for the program.

2.     Assist in the hiring of teachers for the program.

3.     Assist in facilitating needed professional development

4.     Be responsible for curriculum and resources needed for the program

5.     Be responsible for implementation of best practices.

6.     Assist in planning of field trips and parent engagement.

7.     Assist in program evaluation.

8.     Assist in longitudinal follow up data of participating students. 

9.     Visit feeder schools for recruiting purposes.

10.  Collect & organize student applications, balance classes, and arrange transportation.

11.  Monitor daily attendance.

12.  Assist the principal in monitoring student behavior contacting parents as needed.

13.  Collect student academic plans from elementary schools and distribute to teachers.

14.  Provide current test score data to teachers as it becomes available.

 

Training Day:  June 16th (8:30-3:30)    Work Day:  June 17th (8:30-3:30)   

Coaches Meeting:  July 17th (1:00-4:00)    

Camp Dates:  June 18th-July 17th (8:00-12:00)  Monday-Thursday
