  1. What magnet school is my child eligible to attend?

    If you live anywhere in the Pulaski County Special School District, you may apply for assignment to the following Stipulation Magnet Schools: Booker Arts Elementary Magnet, Carver Basic Skills/Math-Science Elementary Magnet, Gibbs International Studies/Foreign Languages Elementary Magnet, Williams Traditional Elementary Magnet, Mann Arts and Science Middle Magnet, and Parkview Arts and Science High Magnet.

  2. What do I need to bring with me when I come to fill out the application?

    You will need to provide proof of your address (i.e. utility bill, lease agreement).

  3. How will I be notified of acceptance into the Stipulation Magnet Schools?

    All students will be notified by letter of acceptance in the magnet schools.

  4. Who do I contact if I have additional information on Stipulation Magnet Schools?

  5. What is an M-to-M transfer?

    An M-to-M transfer is a Majority-to-Minority transfer. This means that a student may apply for a transfer from a district and school where their race is the Majority TO a district and school where their race is in the Minority.

    Basically, this means that black students in the Little Rock School District and North Little Rock School District are eligible to apply for transfer to the Pulaski County Special School District and non-black students in the Pulaski County Special School District are eligible to transfer to schools in the Little Rock School District and North Little Rock School District.

  6. Who is Eligible?

    Students who are in good standing with the sending district are eligible for M-to-M transfer.

  7. When should I apply?

    Students who submit applications during pre-registration have the best chance of being placed at the school of their choice.

  8. How do I apply?

    You may complete and return your M-to-M application form to your resident district.

  10. Can your office fax a Magnet or M-to-M application form?

    The forms are duplicate copies and are not available through FAX or e-mail.

  11. What is Cyber Academy?

    Cyber Academy is an online alternative to traditional classes.

  12. Who is eligible to attend Cyber Academy?

    Any student grades 7-12 is eligible to attend but must complete enrollment process through the school counselor.

  13. What age can I pursue a GED in school?

    You can pursue your GED 16 and 17 years old.

  14. If I am home schooling can I take the GED test?

    Yes, you will go to Adult Ed – Only for the testing but remain on home school studies until you complete your GED.

  15. What is the T.A.B.E. test?

    This is a screening tool to enrollment into Adult Ed classes. T.A.B.E. is the Test Adult Basic Education.

  16. Where can I take the T.A.B.E. test?

    Visit with your student school counselor.

  17. If I am enrolled but not attending, can I still take the T.A.B.E. test?

    No, you must be in regular attendance.

  18. Where do Pulaski County Special School District students take the T.A.B.E. test?

    Adult Ed located in Rose City – 4300 Haywood, North Little Rock, phone: 501.945.6055.

  19. Can I enroll directly in PCSSD Learning Academy from my home school?

    Yes, but meet with your Principal.

  20. If I am assigned to the PCSSD Learning Academy by the Hearing Officer, how long do I have to stay?

    For the time assigned, either one semester or remainder of the school year.

  21. Can my child carry his asthma inhaler with him to class?

    Yes, the asthma inhaler is the only medication that can be kept with the student. All other medications must be kept in the office. The parent will still need to sign the Medication Administration Release Form in the office.

  22. Is there a nurse at my child’s school everyday?

    No, however, there is an assigned nurse for each school. Each school nurse covers 2-3 schools during the school week. She is available to her assigned schools for any questions or emergencies that may arise.

  23. What immunizations does my child need to be in public school?

    The requirements for entry into school are at least 3 doses (4 required for Kindergarten only) of DTP, DT or TD (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis); At least 3 doses of polio vaccine; 2 doses of Rubeola (measles) vaccine, 1 dose of Rubella (German measles) vaccine and 1 dose of Mumps vaccine (these three are commonly given as the MMR); 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine and 1 dose of Varicella (chicken Pox) vaccine (Note if >12 yrs old 2 doses of Varicella are required) or history of Chicken Pox disease.

  24. How do I apply to Home School my child?

    Officially withdraw student from their current school. After withdrawing the student, go to Pulaski County Special School District Administrative Building (Division of Equity and Pupil Services) and complete the Notice of Intent to Home School application.

  25. Do I have to re-apply to Home School each year?

    Notice of Intent to Home School applications must be completed each year, at the beginning of the school year, no later than August 15.

  26. The District office is too far from my home, what can I do?

    Notice of Intent to Home School applications can be obtained at the PCSSD Administrative Offices (Division of Equity and Pupil Services) or on the Arkansas Department of Education website, www.arkansased.org. However, the original document must be completed and returned to the PCSSD Division of Equity and Pupil Services.

  27. Who can I contact for questions regarding Home Schooling?

    State law regulates home schooling in Arkansas. The Arkansas Department of Education can be contacted for questions regarding monitoring and required testing at 501.682.1874.
