Bayou Meto Elementary uniform policy

Clothing items are to have NO visible labels and be the appropriate size (no sagging and no bagging). We appreciate your cooperation in making uniforms a success.

Boys

  • Shirt: Short or long sleeves, collared shirt, turtleneck shirts in solid colors or Bayou Meto shirts.
  • Color selection: red (not maroon), navy blue, white or hunter green.
  • Bottoms: Long pants or walking shorts-you may cut belt loops off (no sweatpants & no wind suit pants).
  • Color selection: Khaki or navy.
  • Belts: Black or brown
  • Shoes/Socks: Any color: (1) Students will be in P.E. classes and need to wear tennis shoes; (2) NO OPEN TOED SHOES, FLIP FLOPS, HEELS OR PLATFORM SHOES OF ANY KIND AND NO HEELIES due to safety reasons.
  • Blue jeans may be worn every Friday with a uniform shirt.

 

Girls

  • Shirt: Short or long sleeves collared shirt, turtleneck shirts in solid colors or Bayou Meto shirts
  • Color selection: red (not maroon), navy blue, white or hunter green.
  • Bottoms: Slacks, walking shorts, skirt, skort, capris or jumper-(right above the knees) (no overalls or no short shorts).
  • Color selection: Khaki or navy
  • Belts: Black or brown
  • Shoes/Socks: Any color: (1) Students will be in P.E. classes and need to wear tennis shoes; (2) NO OPEN TOED SHOES, FLIP FLOPS, HEELS OR PLATFORM SHOES OF ANY KIND AND NO HEELIES due to safety reasons.
  • Blue jeans may be worn every Friday with a uniform shirt.

Accessories

  • PLEASE LABEL ALL OUTER WEAR (sweaters, vests and coats).
  • Backpacks: CLEAR PLASTIC or MESH preferred (rollers are OK but the bags must be carried inside the building).
  • Please check the lost and found regularly to reduce accumulation of lost items.

 

Exemptions
Parents may apply to building principal for full or partial exemptions or waivers for students due to a handicapping condition or religious observation. New students to district schools will be given a two-week grace period to comply with the Uniform Dress Code. Denied exemption requests may be appealed to the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel then to the school board.
