Pulaski County Special School District is going through some exciting changes.
The Division of Learning Services has been completely revamped. Curriculum specialists will take on new titles and a new way of doing business this year. Instructional coordinators and some directors who previously worked out of the Administrative Services Building have been renamed deans of academics and assigned to one of the District's six high schools and to the cluster of middle schools and elementary schools that feed into the high school.
The six deans will spend the first and third weeks of each month on district-wide issues related to his/her specialty. They will be in schools the second and fourth weeks to give direct assistance to principals and teachers on curriculum planning and instruction.
In addition, the District has opened a new state-of-the-art middle school in Maumelle. And, Jacksonville Middle School has been reconfigured to offer single-gender classrooms to help provide an environment more conductive to learning.
We encourage you to attend meetings of the Board of Education. These individuals are taxpayers and residents who meet monthly to serve as the policy-making body for our schools.
We look forward to the coming year as we work together to prepare students for the extraordinary opportunities the future holds.
