Superintendent’s Letter
It
brings me great pleasure to
introduce you to Pulaski
County Special School
District. The 2009-2010
school year brings exciting
opportunity to take our
school district closer to
greatness. During the past
few years this District has
seen steady improvement in
our student academic
achievements. As we
celebrate the successes, we
continue to search for ways
to improve.
We must be ever
mindful that our number one
goal is student achievement.
We must insist on high
standards and commitment to
excellence from students,
teachers, principals and
support staff. Parents also
play an important role in
the educational success of
our students. We welcome
parent involvement and need
your support in order to
maximize student learning.
During the past
few months we have taken on
several large construction
projects and educational
endeavors. We broke ground
on the Oak Grove High School
replacement in Maumelle and
we will break ground soon on
the new Sylvan Hills Middle
School replacement in
Sherwood. This is the first
year for the Star Academy in
Jacksonville. The school is
equipped to serve up to 80
students and is designed for
credit-restoration of ninth
and tenth graders from
Jacksonville High School.
During the summer months the
District conducted
renovations on several
schools and more
improvements are planned for
the summer of 2010.
I believe
leadership and
accountability go hand in
hand. We must be good
stewards of the bottom line
and maximize our financial
resources to support and
enrich the environment of
every child. The job is not
easy, but we must strive to
improve the District and the
students we serve every day.
I look forward
to a successful year and I
encourage everyone to become
involved in making things
better for the students in
Pulaski County Special
School District.

The education of our
children is the
legacy we send to a
future we will never
see. As a community,
we must do all that
we can to provide
quality in all
aspects of the
Pulaski County
Special School
District educational
program to ensure
every child achieves
to his or her
fullest potential.
As adults, we can do
no less than our
level best to create
and support a top
quality school
district. We have
talented, dedicated
teachers,
administrators, and
support staff. The
district is enriched
by its volunteer
program that leads
the state by its
Partners in
Education program.
